HISTORY OF THE RACE IS SIMPLE ...
During
the nineteenth century, farmers in England, Ireland and Scotland began
experiments with crosses between Bulldogs and Terriers looking for a dog
that combined the sport of Terrier with the strength and athleticism of
the Bulldog. The
result was a dog who united in himself all the virtues of the great
warriors: strength, indomitable courage and kindness to those he loves. Immigrants brought these crosses Bulls and Terriers to the United States. The
diverse talents have not gone unnoticed by farmers and ranchers began
to use the American Pit Bull Terriers for protection or as dogs
recovering semiselvagem cattle and pigs, helper in hunting, pastors and
as companion dogs for their families. Today
the American Pit Bull Terrier continues to demonstrate its versatility,
participating successfully in Obedience championships, Faro, agility,
protection and traction, as well as conformation.
STYLE OF THEM ...
The American Pit Bull Terrier is a medium-sized, solidly built, short hair, with a well-defined musculature. This breed is both powerful and athletic. The body is slightly longer than tall, but bitches may be somewhat longer than males. The
length of the front leg (measured from point of elbow to the ground) is
approximately equal to half the height of the dog from the withers. The head is of medium length, with flat skull and muzzle broad and deep. The ears are small to medium, high set and may be natural or cropped. The relatively short tail is set low, thick at the base and tapering toward the tip. The American Pit Bull Terrier comes in all colors and markings. This
breed combines strength and athleticism with grace and agility and
should never appear bulky, with protruding muscles, bones or wading in
fi.

The essential features of American Pit Bull Terrier are strength, autoconfi dence and joy of living. The breed loves to please and enthusiastic. It is an excellent companion dog and it is remarkable how his love for children. Because
the majority of American Pit Bull Terriers have a certain level of
aggression against other dogs, as well as because of his physical being
powerful, this breed needs owners that sociabilizem carefully and
obedience train their dogs. The agility of the breed tornao one of the most able climbers and often use their canines to climb a fence. The American Pit Bull Terrier is not the best choice for those looking guard dogs to be extremely friendly even with strangers. Aggressive behavior toward humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and this is extremely undesirable. This breed does very well in performance events because of its high degree of intelligence and its willingness to work.

American Pit Bull Terrier has always been able to perform a wide
variety of jobs so exaggerations or faults should be penalized in
proportion to how much can interfere with the versatility of the dog.

The
American Pit Bull Terrier must be both powerful and agile so actual
weight and height are less important than the correct proportion of
height and weight. The weight of an adult male in good condition is between 15.87 and 27.21 kg. The weight for a mature female in good condition is between 13.60 and 22.67 kg.

continua demonstrando sua versatilidade, participando com sucesso em campeonatos
de Obediência, Faro, Agility, Proteção e Tração, além da conformação.
ESTILO DELES...
O American Pit Bull Terrier é um cão de porte médio, de
constituição sólida, pelagem curta, com uma musculatura bem definida. Esta raça é
poderosa e atlética. O corpo é levemente mais longo que alto, sendo que as fêmeas
podem ser algo mais longas que os machos. O comprimento das pernas dianteiras
(medidas da ponta do cotovelo ao chão) é aproximadamente igual à metade da altura
do cão a partir da cernelha. A cabeça é de comprimento médio, com o crânio chato e
o focinho largo e profundo. As orelhas são de tamanho pequeno para médio, inseridas
altas e podem ser naturais ou cortadas. A cauda relativamente curta é inserida baixa,
grossa na base e afi lando em direção à ponta. O American Pit Bull Terrier se apresenta
em todas as cores e marcações. A raça combina resistência e atleticidade com graça
e agilidade e nunca deve ter aparência desajeitada, com musculatura saliente, ossos
fi nos ou pernalta.

são a força, a autoconfi ança e a alegria de viver. A raça gosta de agradar e é cheia de
entusiasmo. É um excelente cão de companhia e é notável o seu amor por crianças.
Pelo fato de a maioria dos American Pit Bull Terriers apresentar certo nível de
agressividade contra outros cães, bem como pelo fato de seu físico ser poderoso, a
raça necessita de proprietários que os sociabilizem cuidadosamente e que treinem
obediência aos seus cães. A agilidade da raça tornao
um dos mais capazes escaladores
e com freqüência usa seus caninos para escalar uma cerca. O American Pit Bull Terrier
não é a melhor escolha para os que procuram cães de guarda por ser extremamente
amigável mesmo com desconhecidos. Comportamento agressivo para com o ser
humano não é característico da raça, portanto isso é extremamente indesejável. A
raça se sai muito bem em eventos performáticos por seu alto grau de inteligência e
sua vontade de trabalhar.

trabalhos, portanto, exageros ou faltas devem ser penalizados na proporção do quanto

portanto o seu peso e sua altura são menos importantes do que a correta proporção
entre altura e peso. O peso de um macho adulto em boas condições oscila
